Quantum Design -Magnetic Properties Measurement System
SQUID, an acronym for superconducting quantum interference device, measures extremely small magnetic fields. The system housed at MINT is manufactured by Quantum design Inc and is called the Magnetic Property Measurement System or MPMS. This system can measure magnetic moments as low as 10-7 emu from 4.2K to 350K and fields up to 5 tesla can be applied during measurements. Typical runs involve measuring magnetization as a function of magnetic field and temperature.
