Vaid, Thomas P.

Dr. Thomas Vaid is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Alabama. He received his PhD in chemistry from Cornell University in 1997 and was a postdoctoral scholar with Prof. Nathan Lewis at the California Institute of Technology from 1997-2000. In 2000, he joined the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis as an assistant professor, and in 2008 moved to the University of Alabama. His research interests are generally in the area of materials chemistry, either inorganic or organic. Specifically, his group is now exploring the synthesis and characterization of new semiconducting materials that are assembled from molecular components. In another project, his group is examining new inorganic-organic composite solar cells.
