S. Nima Mahmoodi has received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Clemson University, South Carolina in August 2007. He was a visiting assistant professor in Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety at Virginia Tech from January 2008 to July 2010. Currently, He is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama. He is a member of ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division, and a member of SPIE. His research interests include Piezoelectrically-actuated nanomechanical sensors, Nonlinear vibrations and controls with application to MEMS, Active vibration control of structures with piezoelectric actuators, Energy harvesting using smart materials, and Vibration control of alternative energy sources.
